BANKS BLISTERS FINAL NINE TO CAPTURE 2010 CAROLINA AM CHAMPIONSHIP! NEXT STOP WYNDHAM PRE QUALIFIER.
Lancaster, SC native, Trevor Banks, has captured the 2010 Carolina Am Golf Championship held July 31st and August 1st at Carolina Lakes Golf Club in Indian Land South Carolina. Because of Banks’ victory he received an automatic berth in the pre-qualifier for the PGA’s Wyndham
Championship, to be held August 12th at Greensboro CC’s Carlson Farm Course.
Commenting on his victory Banks said, “I am thrilled to have a chance to qualify for a PGA golf event. As an amateur, this is an outstanding
opportunity!”
Banks shot a 2 round total of 138, 6 under par, besting runner-up Jacob Eggers of Vilas, NC by 4 strokes. Heading into the final 9 Banks was 1 shot up on defending champion, Joe Jaspers. Banks then birdied 3 more holes on the back nine while Jaspers faltered.
Both Banks and Eggers will receive automatic berths in the pre-qualifier for the PGA’s Wyndham Championship as the 1st and 2nd place finishers
are awarded spots.

The Carolina Am Golf Championship, the metro area’s most prestigious amateur golf tournament, has renewed its partnership with the nationally famous PGA Tour Wyndham Championship of Greensboro.
Charles Humphreys, Director of the Carolina AM, said, “We are excited and privileged to renew our partnership with the historic Wyndham Championship of Greensboro. This year we will send our top 2 finishers to the pre-qualifier! What an outstanding rare opportunity for 2 local amateur golfers to have a chance to play in a PGA Tour golf tournament. This doesn’t happen often.”
The winner and runner up of the 2010 Carolina AM will receive an automatic berth in the pre-qualifier to be held August 12th at Greensboro CC’s Carlson Farm Course. The top 50 from the pre-qualifier will have a chance to qualify for a spot in the Wyndham Championship.*
The Carolina AM is a two day 36 hole stroke play golf tournament for amateurs only. To qualify amateurs must have a 6.3 handicap index or less. The event will be hosted by Springfield Golf Club, Fort Mill, SC. The date is Saturday July 31st and Sunday August 1st . The field is limited to the first 100 players.

Golf Carolina
Huntersville, NC native, Joe Jaspers has captured the 2009 Carolina AM Golf Championship held August 1 and 2nd at Northstone Country Club in Huntersville.
Because of Joe’s victory he received an automatic berth in the pre-qualifier for the PGA Wyndham Championship to be held August 13 at the Bryan Park Golf Course- Browns Summit, NC.

Commenting on his victory Jaspers said, “Iam thrilled to have a chance to qualify for a PGA golf event. As an amateur, this is an outstanding opportunity.”
Jaspers shot a 2 round total of 134, 10 under par, besting the runner-up and 2008 champion, Cory Nagy, by 5 strokes.
Heading into the final 9 Jaspers was 1 shot behind Nagy. Jaspers then birdied 3 of the last 9 holes while Nagy faltered with 2 bogeys on his final 9 holes.

Inside Golf
Charlotte’s Joe Jaspers won a spot in the Wyndom Championship pre-qualifying event with his five stroke victory over Corey Nagy in the Carolina AM Sunday at Northstone Country Club. Jaspers made three birdies on the back nine to overtake Nagy, who led by a stroke at the turn.
If Jaspers can survive the August 13th pre-qualifying event at Bryan Park near Greensboro, he will be in the Monday qualifer with a shot to play the PGA tour event in Greensboro.
