CHAPMAN BLISTERS FIELD TO CAPTURE 2011 CAROLINA AM CHAMPIONSHIP! NEXT STOP WYNDHAM PRE QUALIFIER.
Franklin, NC native, Colin Chapman, has captured the 2011 Carolina Am Golf Championship held July 23rd and July 24th at Verdict Ridge Country Club in Denver, NC. Because of Chapman’s victory he received an automatic berth in the pre-qualifier for the PGA’s Wyndham Championship, to be held August 11th at Forest Oaks Country Club, Greensboro, NC.

Commenting on his victory Chapman said, “I am thrilled to have a chance to qualify for a PGA golf event. As an amateur, this is an outstanding opportunity!”
Chapman shot a 2 round total of 137, 7 under par, besting runners-up Noah Ratner of Asheville and JT Poston of Hickory by 8 shots. Heading into the final 18 Chapman had a 2 shot lead over three others. As he headed into the final nine, Chapman pulled away while the others faded.
Both Chapman and Ratner will receive automatic berths in the pre-qualifier for the PGA’s Wyndham Championship as the 1st and 2nd place finishers are awarded spots. Ratner won his spot with in a one hole playoff with Poston
