THE CAROLINA AM INKS AGREEMENT WITH
THE CLUB AT IRISH CREEK TO HOST 2013 EVENT!

The Carolina Am Golf Championship, the metro area’s most prestigious amateur golf tournament, will be hosted in 2013 by The Club at Irish Creek, a Davis Love III Signature Golf Course, and a metro area premier golf venue.
Jeff Austin, General Manager, of The Club at Irish Creek, commented, “We are excited to partner with The Carolina AM as the host site in 2013. This tournament brings some of the finest amateur golfers in the region. Our staff and members are looking forward to this outstanding opportunity.”

The winner and runner up of the 2013 Carolina AM will receive an automatic berth in the pre-qualifier to be held August 8th at Forest Oaks Country Club, Greensboro, NC. The top 50 from the pre-qualifier will have a chance to qualify for a spot in the Wyndham Championship.*
The Carolina AM is a two day 36 hole stroke play golf tournament for amateurs only. To qualify amateurs must have a 6.3 handicap index or less. The date is Saturday August 3rd and Sunday August 4th. Rob Bish Head Professional at Providence Country Club congratulates Ron Kirkpatrick winner of the 2012 Carolina AM.

Charlotte native and amateur veteran, Ron Kirkpatrick, showed the young pups the value of experience and knowledge as he captured the 2012 Carolina AM Championship held July 21^st and 22^nd at Providence Country Club in Charlotte.  Because of Kirkpatrick’s victory he received an automatic berth in the pre-qualifier for the PGA’s Wyndham Championship, to be held August 9th at Forest Oaks Country Club, Greensboro, NC.

Commenting on his victory, Kirkpatrick said, “It’s a dream come true, I am thrilled to have an opportunity to qualify for a PGA golf event. As an amateur, this is a rare opportunity!”

Entering the final round Kirkpatrick was 4 shots behind the leader and in 7^th position.  He made 3 birdies and one bogey on the front nine to go 1 under and take a 2 shot lead into the back nine.  Two more birdies and all pars the rest of the way gave him a 4 stroke victory over second place finisher Taylor Banks.

Banks will also get a berth in the Wyndham pre qualifier as a result of his 2^nd place finish.

CHAPMAN BLISTERS FIELD TO CAPTURE 2011 CAROLINA AM CHAMPIONSHIP! NEXT STOP WYNDHAM PRE QUALIFIER.

Franklin, NC native, Colin Chapman, has captured the 2011 Carolina Am Golf Championship held July 23^rd and July 24th at Verdict Ridge Country Club in Denver, NC.  Because of Chapman’s victory he received an automatic berth in the pre-qualifier for the PGA’s Wyndham Championship, to be held August 11th at Forest Oaks Country Club, Greensboro, NC.

Commenting on his victory Chapman said, “I am thrilled to have a chance to qualify for a PGA golf event. As an amateur, this is an outstanding opportunity!”

Chapman shot a 2 round total of 137, 7 under par, besting runners-up Noah Ratner of Asheville and JT Poston of Hickory by 8 shots.  Heading into the final 18 Chapman had a 2 shot lead over three others. As he headed into the final nine, Chapman pulled away while the others faded.

Both Chapman and Ratner will receive automatic berths in the pre-qualifier for the PGA’s Wyndham Championship as the 1^st and 2^nd place finishers are awarded spots.  Ratner won his spot with in a one hole playoff with Poston
